Helicopter helps fight blaze

A helicopter helped extinguish a scrub fire in Linton, Manawatu¯. Firefighters were called to the blaze on Kahuterawa Rd about 3pm on Wednesday. About 5pm, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the fire was out but the helicopter was still dampening the scrub. The blaze comes after three scrub fires on Tuesday. Helicopters were called to help extinguish fires in Pahiatua and Feilding. The Pahiatua fire was doused on Wednesday about 3.45pm and firefighters put out the Feilding blaze by 10pm on Tuesday. The third incident was in Whanganui and required six fire engines.
