Ross: today’s the day
Botany MP Jami-Lee Ross has confirmed he will write to Parliament’s Speaker today to resign his seat, after a week of political turmoil.
Ross said by text last night he would ‘‘create a vacancy’’ as previously signalled. He did not specify the date of his departure from Parliament, so a by-election date is still up in the air.
Ross has been expelled from the National Party caucus but could remain in Parliament as an independent MP unless National triggers the ‘‘waka jumping’’ law.
