Royal plan to bring races to the Palace

-

The Queen could watch her favourite sport from the balcony of Buckingham Palace under her eldest grandson’s venture to bring horse racing to the centre of the world’s great cities. The Mall has been mooted as an ideal future site for a project spearheaded by Peter Phillips to bring the thrill of racing to urban spaces. The attempt to broaden the sport’s appeal, following similar projects in athletics and Formula One, saw three road trials held yesterday in Liverpool, near the Grand National circuit. Eight thoroughbreds ran over three-and-a-half furlongs.
