6000 commuters delayed

-

About 6000 commuters had a tough time getting to work yesterday when Hutt Valley train services were suspended after damage to the tracks during maintenance. About 8.30am, Metlink spokeswoman Emily Liddell said services resumed on the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa lines but some delays should be expected. The damage was caused when an excavator derailed near Taita overnight. Metlink scrambled to find buses to replace the trains. ‘‘We have very limited buses available but passengers can use their rail ticket to take any Metlink bus into work.’’
