Souths slay Dragons

- Rugby league

Sam Burgess was at his inspirational best and Braidon Burns proved why Wayne Bennett is such a fan as South Sydney ran riot in the second half against NRL rivals St George Illawarra. Burns’ hussle to force Gareth Widdop to knock-on straight after halftime inspired the visitors as they raced in four tries in just 17 minutes to win 34-18 at Kogarah on Thursday night. The 10,080 Dragons fans who were in fine voice at halftime suddenly realised their side was about to crash to a second straight loss, before a road trip to Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium next Thursday night.
