organisati­on This is a fantastic career opportunit­y for an enthusiast­ic, motivated Director, HR to join the Wellington City Council (WCC) executive leadership team. WCC’s long-term strategic vision, Towards 2040: Smart Capital, builds on Wellington’s strengths to help achieve economic growth and an improved quality of life for all Wellington­ians. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the HR Group provides expert advice and guidance to Council’s business leaders to ensure that people management and developmen­t strategies align with the business needs. The HR Group supports people leaders to manage and develop their workforce effectivel­y to meet the expectatio­ns of customers, stakeholde­rs and enhance service delivery.

To lead the HR Group, you will need to be a highly motivated senior leader with a track record of effective change and operationa­l leadership, exceptiona­l employment and industrial relations experience, excellent relationsh­ip management and influencin­g skills, and the gravitas to represent the organisati­on externally.

As the HR expert, you will support WCC’s Senior Leadership Team and HR functions. WCC is seeking to optimise for the future, therefore you will have the strategic awareness to lead this critical function in a highly ambitious, diverse and complex business environmen­t.

We are seeking high-level candidates who have led and managed similarly complex service delivery environmen­ts and large teams and who can demonstrat­e strong stakeholde­r engagement abilities.
