Two crashes, four injured

One person has been left with serious injuries following a crash in Hawke’s Bay yesterday. Emergency services were called to a ‘‘serious crash’’ on the Napier Hastings Expressway, near Tamatea, at 1.35pm. According to police, a car had hit a tree on the expressway near Rochester and Edmundson streets, leaving one person with serious injuries. Meanwhile, three people were injured after a car crash in Wellington’s Newlands suburb early yesterday. Police said the ‘‘serious crash’’ on Ladbrooke Drive occurred around 3am. One person had critical injuries and two others sustained serious injuries when the car they were in went down a bank. A Capital and Coast District Health Board spokeswoma­n said one person remained in Wellington Regional Hospital’s ICU in a critical condition yesterday, with two others in a stable condition in ED. The police serious crash unit was investigat­ing both incidents.
