Singh on bench in loss
All Whites midfielder Sarpreet Singh was an unused substitute in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 German Supercup defeat to Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old former Wellington Phoenix player had played in five pre-season games, but was left on the bench for the season opener in Dortmund yesterday. Bayern manager Niko Kovac called on Canadian teen Alphone Davies and Portugese midfielder Renate Sanches as substitutes, ahead of Singh, who scored his first goal for the German Bundesliga champions in a penalty shootout loss to English club Tottenham Hotspur in the Audi Cup pre-season tournament final last Thursday.
