Briscoe’s record profit

-

Briscoe Group is on track to post its tenth straight record profit. On Monday, the company released positive sales figures for its second quarter despite slowing economic growth nationwide. Briscoe Group chief Rod Duke said a shift in how Kiwis decorated their homes has made the difference to the success of his store. ‘‘We have quite a different proposition where we sell famous brand names cheap,’’ Duke said. ‘‘The rest of the market looks like this: department stores selling nice stuff, but expensive. The vast majority of our other competitors are selling unbranded stuff cheap.’’ Sales for the second quarter across Briscoes, Living and Giving and Rebel Sport were $152.3 million, up 4.05 per cent on last year.
