Hunt for man after attack

-

Police are hunting a man in his mid to late 20s with facial tattoos after a home invasion in Porirua on Sunday. Detective Senior Sergeant Kevan Verry said a report was received about 1.15pm on Sunday, after an incident where a man said he had been assaulted. The man was left injured after the attack in Titahi Bay, and police were asking for anyone with information to come forward. The suspect left the address in a blue Holden or Ford sedan, driving along Mana Ave, Verry said. ‘‘Officers investigating the incident would like to reassure the public that we are committed to holding this offender to account for his actions.’’ Reports of the incident surfaced on a Porirua Facebook community group, suggesting the attacker had gained entry after saying he had run out of petrol. He had stabbed the resident, a 64-year-old man, twice the posts said. The victim’s injuries were not serious, and paramedics treated him at the scene.
