• High-profile organisation and sector • Operational and strategic role • Work closely with the Board

-

Broadcasters inform and entertain us, but they also have an obligation to uphold certain standards. As a Crown Entity the Broadcasting Standards Authority, Te Mana Whanonga Kaipāho, oversees this regime on behalf of New Zealanders focusing on the balancing of freedom of expression and harm prevention. It acts in three key areas: complaints determination, oversight and development of broadcasting standards, and education and engagement.

The Chief Executive has oversight of the operational aspects of the Authority and leads a team of mainly legal staff. As well as providing strategic leadership, the CE works closely with the Board and provides advice relating to the development of standards and for overseeing research and communications functions.

You will be an experienced senior leader who has an ability to lead, motivate and build a high-performing team. You will enjoy engaging and influencing stakeholders and have a continuous improvement focus. Experience working with/in the public sector, policy development, and working with a Board would be desirable. A commitment to te ao Māori and an understanding of the broadcasting sector will also be important.

This is a rare opportunity to join an important organisation.
