No new Covid-19 cases reported
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says it would be ‘‘dangerous’’ for New Zealand’s border to be reopened as coronavirus continues to spread overseas. The prime minister’s comments were made at a press conference yesterday afternoon, when it was revealed there were no new cases of Covid-19 reported. The number of active cases remains at 22. All active cases have recently returned from overseas and are in managed isolation facilities. There have been no cases of community transmission. Ardern confirmed the border will stay shut. She said New Zealand had made hard gains to get to where it is, and the Government had ‘‘no intention of squandering them’’.
