Walmart stops selling ‘All Lives Matter’ goods

-

Walmart will stop the sale of All Lives Matter merchandise on its website, noting that it is putting its emphasis on black people and other people of colour whose lives are being ‘‘impacted by ongoing racial injustice.’’ The United States’ largest retailer is removing the items, which are sold by third-party sellers,‘‘indefinitely,’’ after hearing from some employees and customers who were concerned about the meaning behind the merchandise. Walmart’s move is the latest in a series of actions taken by companies and lawmakers as the nation grapples with racism in the wake of the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and other African American men and women killed by police. Walmart will continue to allow the sale of other ‘‘Lives Matter’’ merchandise, but with more scrutiny.
