Queen’s lawn a loo stop

-

While most of the UK’s public facilities remain closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, some joggers and walkers have turned the Queen’s lawn into a toilet stop. Staff at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where the Queen regularly holidays, have sent out a notice asking people to refrain from using the grounds for a toilet break. ‘‘Disappointed to see so many wipes discarded on the Estate today. Next to paths and monuments,’’ staff wrote on Twitter. ‘‘People are choosing to relieve themselves right next to busy paths or monuments rather than move a little bit further away to avoid contamination.’’ Another post on social media asked people needing to pee to do so ‘‘at least 30 metres from lochs or streams’’ and those needing to take care of other business to ‘‘do so as far away as possible from buildings, paths, water courses and farm animals’’.
