Huskies off the mark

-

The Auckland Huskies scored their first victory of the NBL Showdown with a comprehensive 109-93 victory over the Taranaki Mountainairs. It was a sharp turnaround for the Huskies who were coming off a run of three losses and another blow for Taranaki who started with two wins but now hold a 2-2 record following last night’s loss. The Huskies finally found some form at the offensive end, dropping 12 three-pointers and shooting at 51 per cent for the game. Huskies guard Izayah Le’afa, who shot just one from 15 in his first game on Sunday, started strong last night. The third quarter was marred by an incident where Huskies captain Leon Henry clashed with Derone Raukawa, an incident that will likely draw the attention of the NBL’s Game Review Panel. Henry was seen to grab Raukawa around the neck. That aside, the result for the Huskies made it a night to savour.
