Focus on policies

-

Verity Johnson’s take on Judith Collins was as insightful and funny as ever (Old-school lineup has given up on young vote, July 19).

One thing was not quite right though: Judith Collins is not the Boomers’ Jacinda. Actually Jacinda is our Jacinda.

For those of my generation who aren’t fans of our current prime minister, Judith Collins is more like their Robert Muldoon. He was another ‘‘tough’’ populist, a mix of bully and funny guy, who also happened to leave our economy in a mess.

Collins will entertain her fans and detractors alike, but let’s just focus on the policies, shall we. That’s what voters should be responding to, not casual jokes about PC gone mad or the woke Left.
