Truckie gets 22 years for killing Victoria cops

-

The families of four police officers killed by truck driver Mohinder Singh, 48, on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway say ‘‘justice has been served’’ after he was jailed for 22 years. Singh was short on sleep and high on drugs when he crashed a 19-tonne semi-trailer into the officers, who had pulled over speeding Porsche driver Richard Pusey in April last year. Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, and constables Glen Humphris and Josh Prestney died at the scene. Singh was jailed for 22 years, with a 18-year and six-month non-parole period, when he appeared in Victoria’s Supreme Court yesterday. It is the worst loss of life from a single event in Victoria Police history.
