Auckland couple’s $14.25m win

An Auckland couple couldn’t believe their eyes when they realised they had won $14.25 million from Saturday night’s Lotto draw. The winning ticket was sold online at MyLotto, and made up of $14 million from Powerball First Division and $250,000 from Lotto First Division. The winner said she had been playing the same Lotto numbers for a few years. ‘‘They’re a combination of family birthdays, milestones and special events. I pick up a ticket for most draws, but didn’t actually buy this ticket until Saturday – it was a bit of a whim really,’’ she said. The winner was having dinner with friends when she decided to check her MyLotto app. ‘‘My mind started racing when I saw the numbers all being circled on one line – I wanted to tell my husband, but he was deep in conversation, so I started tapping the table to try and get his attention.’’
