One case in isolation
There is one new case of Covid-19 in managed isolation, the Ministry of Health announced yesterday.
The person travelled from the United Kingdom via Qatar and tested positive on day six. They are in managed isolation in Auckland.
There were no new community cases yesterday. The ministry’s update came a day after the announcement that two-way quarantine-free travel with the Cook Islands would begin on May 17, and two days after the announcement that flights would resume between Western Australia and New Zealand.
On Monday, there were four new cases, all in managed isolation.
Meanwhile, a sick local staff member working in the New Zealand High Commission in India posted a plea for oxygen on Twitter. The request was successful, but has been deleted by the commission, which apologised for the serious breach of diplomatic protocol.
