Wood scores in loss

-

Chris Wood continued his red-hot form in front of goal but couldn’t prevent his Burnley side from slipping to a 2-1 English Premier League defeat to West Ham at Turf Moor. Fresh off a hat-trick at Wolves, All Whites striker Wood put the Clarets ahead after 19 minutes when he won and converted a penalty. But West Ham forward Michail Antonio hit back three minutes later with a header from Vladimir Coufal’s cross before scoring what proved to be the winner on the half-hour mark to keep the Hammers’ improbable Champions League bid on track.

■ West Bromwich Albion are on the brink of relegation after only drawing 1-1 with Wolves.
