Welcome role

-

The article on Ben Brown, the country’s first Reading Ambassador (Reading to kids: It’s literally life-changing, May 5), was inspiring. I wish him every success in the role, which will be challenging, if not at times daunting.

Good literacy and communication are essential for everyone and must begin at birth, through interaction with all who surround a child, and continue for a lifetime. Perhaps caregivers could cease from iPhone use during a child’s waking hours.

Hopefully Brown will make a difference to our children and young people’s lives. We can only hope.
