Cheers, cobber
I’m sure I join all right-thinking Kiwis in applauding the efforts of the strivers and strugglers who own Westpac bank, for dragging themselves up by their bootlaces to extract another half a billion in profit from us in the financial year so far (Westpac NZ announces $583m profit, up 98%, May 3).
We can only pray the next six months continue to provide the rightful fruit of their honest toil, and that they and their fellow Australian-owned ‘‘competitors’’ can each declare that a modest billion or so has been repatriated across the Tasman.
Cheers, cobber. It’s not as though we needed any of that money for housing, hospitals, schools or infrastructure. Clearly our government knew exactly what it was doing when it let you take it. Graeme Tuckett, Te Aro
