Pastels to keep the cold at bay
Make this the winter you break out from the black jumper and embrace shades of buttercup, sage and powder blue, says Josie Steenhart.
Dusting off the contents of my knitwear drawers this week in time for the colder temperatures, I was dismayed to find that my snugwear veered towards one shade. You (probably) guessed it: black. Why I’ve seen fit to grow an enormous collection of almost identical jumpers I am not sure, but I’ve resolved to make this the season I step outside my knitwear-colourcomfort-zone, and what better direction to move in than the complete opposite of black – pastels.
Searching the (virtual) shelves for options, the predominant palette seems to be shades of soft, sugary pink, but there are also plenty of other playful hues from buttercup and banana yellows to sage and mint greens, lavender, lilac and light blues.
Pair them with denim on the weekends or match with a crisp white shirt and black pants for covetable and cosy workwear.
