Spring on a fresh jacket

Pale outerwear is a welcome nod to spring and a great way to wrap up while dodging traditional moody winter hues, writes Josie Steenhart.

Last week was Australian Fashion Week in Sydney – and for those of us that love a bit of street style, there was plenty of eye candy. One shot that really caught my eye was the one I’ve used here – not least because they look like such a nice bunch of women, with none of the frankly ridiculous posing, posturing, peacocking and pretending not to see the photographer you tend to get a lot of at these events. Another reason I did a double take is because I love a coordinated group look, where everyone still gets to express their own style, but you also have a cohesive thing going on, with people complementing each other in a lovely, seemingly effortless way (#squadgoals, if you will).

But the main reason I’m including it here is because I’m digging the pale hues of the outerwear, from sumptuous vanillas and lattes to washes of pale green and buttery yellow, the nod to spring and sunshine is a nice change from the traditionally dark and moody tones associated with winter garb.

Add accessories in soft, tonal colours, pop on your favourite fabulous eyewear, grab a gal pal or five and you’re good to go – whether you have a fashion week to attend or just weekend brunch.
