Aviation heritage lost
I see Wellington International Airport bought the old air traffic control tower for a goodly sum, and has with alacrity, proceeded to demolish it.
This is sheer vandalism by a company which should have known better. Where is its sense of history and community spirit?
It clearly denied those who have more imagination than it has, the opportunity to create a fascinating house, for example. Similarly, the airport company lacked the imagination to offer it as the basis for a museum dedicated to recording the airport’s heritage, or was that just too great a step?
But it has gone now, and with it, a wonderful tribute to our aviation heritage. Shame on you!
