Lawson wins on debut
Liam Lawson has done it on debut yet again, this time winning in his first outing in the prestigious German touring car championship (DTM). The Kiwi teenager won the seasonopening race at Monza for Ferrari to become the youngest DTM race winner in history. It followed his win on debut in Formula 2 three months ago, resulting in Kiwi motorsport legend Greg Murphy saying it was only a matter of time before a Formula 1 team snapped him up. The 19-year-old started the race from fifth on the grid, before he pounced when pole sitter Vincent Abril, of Monaco, rejoined the race following a pit stop. Knowing Abril’s cold tyres would hinder him, Lawson powered past him and never looked back.
