Events to go ahead

Commemoration events will go ahead in Waitangi next month after local hapū agreed to carry on with a three-day event at Te Tii Marae. Waitangi National Trust last month cancelled all in-person events at the Upper Treaty Grounds, citing the pandemic. But at hui last week, hapū agreed events at the lower grounds will go ahead, albeit with restrictions. Specific details are still being worked out. A Government spokesperson said an invitation would be considered but MPs were expected to attend events in their own electorates.
