Unwanted Black Caps spinner been voted the ICC’s men’s Player of the Month for December. Patel took all 10 wickets in India’s first innings of the second test at Mumbai last month, becoming only the third player in tests to achieve that feat after England’s Jim Laker and India’s Anil Kumble. The left-arm spinner also took four wickets in the second innings to record the second-best figures – 14-225 – in New Zealand test history, behind Sir Richard Hadlee. Patel’s haul was also the best bowling figures in a test match in 2021. The award is decided by fan vote. has
