Six60 ‘whatever’ goes XL
Kiwi roots outfit Six60 continue to poke fun at a conservative Australian commentator by dropping merchandise addressing his complaints about their use of te reo Māori. Sky News presenter Rowan Dean recently complained about the exclusive use of te reo Māori in their tour posters by a Kiwi pop band – ‘‘Sixty 60 or whatever’’ – but in a Facebook post the band embrace both the language and new name. The back of their new, limited edition T-shirts lists the towns and dates of the current tour entirely in te reo Māori, with the words ‘‘Sixty60 or whatever’’ displayed on the front. ‘‘I’ll have 60sixty of them in XL...or whatever,’’ wrote one fan. While Dean told Stuff he invited the band onto his show, frontman Matiu Walters said he has not seen any response from the broadcaster.
