Gorge footpath closed

The footpath down Ngāūranga Gorge from Newlands to the southbound offramp will be closed from 7pm today to 5.30am on Monday, January 9. Contractors for Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency are beginning preparations for rockfall prevention works planned for the Christmas/New Year holiday period. The transport agency will set up a signposted detour for cyclists and pedestrians to follow to the path on the northbound side of the gorge. Temporary cyclist/pedestrian signal phasing will be installed at the traffic lights at the bottom of the gorge.
