A four-year term

-

I agree with Denis O’Rourke (letters, Nov 17) that Aotearoa should have a four-year parliamentary term (please, no midterm elections!).

I don’t agree that the term any MP can serve should be limited to 16 years. If an MP is doing a good job, why put them out of it?

Experience is invaluable and if their electorate wants them as their representative they should be allowed to represent them. Otherwise it makes a mockery of democracy.
