As simple as good v evil

Re the letter from John K Monro (Nov 18), expressing support for Nicholas Khoo’s opinion piece Why NZ’s morality narrative on Ukraine doesn’t work (Nov 12), Vladimir Putin wants peace as well, but only on his own terms, which means retaining a slice of Ukrainian land.

Such terms are unacceptable not only to Ukraine but to the world at large, as such terms would be seen to reward Putin and embolden him in any imperialist ambitions he may have for the future.

The war can be shortened only by brute military force, the only force Putin appears to understand. In this matter it really is as simple as good versus evil. Adrian Hart, Whanganui
