-

A 44-year-old man was arrested following an armed police callout to Mandalay Tce in Wellington. Residents in the Khandallah street were told to stay indoors and entry was blocked early yesterday. A spokesperson for police said the callout was in relation to reports of a suspicious vehicle. She confirmed a man was arrested about 12.45pm. He is expected to appear in the Wellington District Court today, facing charges of burglary, unlawful possession of a restricted weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition and breaching bail. The man faces existing warrants due to unpaid fines. An older Mercedes with what appeared to be bullet holes was parked in the street.
