Sexual offending paramedic denied parole

A paramedic who sexually violated patients in the back of an ambulance has just recently started a child sex offenders programme and has been declined parole until 2024. Christophe­r King, 57, was jailed for 141⁄ years in December

2014 after a jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting patients in the back of a St John ambulance. King appeared at his first Parole Board hearing earlier this month. He was recently transferre­d to Rolleston Prison in Christchur­ch and in June he began the Kia Marama child sex offenders programme. He is expected to graduate from the programme in June. The Parole Board noted King’s ‘‘extraordin­arily wide range of sexual offending’’ on victims aged from 11 to 56, and said following the completion of the programme King may well require further rehabilita­tive work.
