A Very Welly Christmas on this weekend

It’s officially the holiday season – Lambton Quay will be closed to vehicles for A Very Welly Christmas over the weekend. The festival of entertainment and activities, put on by the city council, includes live music, street performers, face-painting, an ice rink, an igloo, and Santa. Mayor Tory Whanau was looking forward to celebrating with the rest of Wellington. ‘‘A Very Welly Christmas is such a good mix of traditional and modern culture, embracing our diverse communities and providing a welcoming experience for everyone – which is what our city is all about. Bring your tamariki, friends, and whānau, and we’ll bring the festivities – and I’ll see you there,’’ she said. A Very Welly Christmas will be on at Lambton Quay from noon on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be carols in Midland Park from 5pm until 7pm on Saturday.
