Health care at risk from corporates

-

Amid current arguments and angst regarding primary care health services, nothing appears to be said about the impact of corporatisation that has taken place in recent years.

Once locally-owned, many medical practices have been acquired by corporates, as evidenced by fancy branding and marketing – and I suggest by a much reduced service and significant increase in patient fees.

Covid-19 has been a convenient cloud. The Government should be demanding full disclosure of corporate profits, not accepting the smokescreen of ‘‘commercial confidentiality’’.

Public health cannot be allowed to become secondary to profit.
