‘Drug lords’ supercartel busted in Dubai, Europe
Six British, Dutch, Spanish and French men known as the Drug Lords, a super-cartel who controlled a third of Europe’s cocaine trade, have been arrested in Dubai. Another 13 were arrested in Spain, where investigators seized assets worth € 24 million (NZ$40 million). One of the men arrested in Dubai, a British citizen, was described by Spanish police as the ‘‘very head of the organisation’’. Members of the so-called super-cartel are believed to have connections with the mafia. One of the arrested British men was previously based on the Costa del Sol but the police said he fled to Dubai in 2019.
