McLeod's Brewery

When Geoff and Clayton couldn't find beer to match their mammoth pizzas, they decided to brew their own. McLeod's Brewery opened in 2014 and quickly recruited head brewer Jason Bathgate, whose CV reads as a best-of of New Zealand's craft brewing scene, with a little 5-star culinary training thrown in for good measure. With a passion for barrel-aged and sour beers, Jason has produced a number of award-winners, including the Paradise Pale Ale named New Zealand's best beer by the Society of Beer Advocates in 2018 and nine medals at the 2017 Brewers' Guild of New Zealand awards. He also produces a variety of seasonal beers – the full-bodied Billycan Milk Stout is dark and malty with notes of chocolate, while the Far North Chili Pilsner made with Kaitaia Fire Chili Sauce is a summer favourite.
