Orokawa Bay Villa

Niki and Roger Dowe know how to travel. They've spent their lives helping others enjoy their journeys around the world in ultimate comfort – Niki as a flight attendant for Air New Zealand, and Roger as the owner of Hallmark Chauffeur Drive. In 2017 they turned their attention from the journey to the destination, and purchased a luxury 4-bedroom lodge on the edge of Waihi's Orokawa Bay. Mt Maunganuiraised Niki couldn't go past that jaw-dropping view. “We were looking for something special instead we found a slice of paradise. It's our dream to retire here, but in the meantime, we love that guests can enjoy it."

The accommodation is a European-style lodge, and is designed to be enjoyed by groups of up to 8 people. Guests have use of the entire lodge (including spa pool) and can arrange to have food delivered, but are otherwise left to their own devices. “It's a perfect base for a family getaway or girls' weekend – there are world-class shops and restaurants nearby and it's close enough to enjoy day trips to the Coromandel, Hobbiton or even Auckland.” Or, just sit back and enjoy that view.
