The Insider's Guide to New Zealand
New Zealand Glass Works
The Glass Works is like Aladdin’s Cave. On display is some of the country’s outstanding glass art, with works by Emma Camden, Katie Brown, Claudia Borella and Philip Stokes, and everything twinkles in the light. There are blown works and cast pieces; some like lace; others bright and bold. Manager and curator Scott Redding says
New Zealand glass art is very different to European and US work. “It’s very refreshing. It must be our isolation. Artists are not influenced by trends or stuck in techniques.”
