Lake Westmere

Not to be confused with Westmere Walkway, Lake Westmere is on the way to the Bason Botanic Gardens. The public reserve has a 9ha lake surrounded by a walkway and set in

20ha of bush and farmland. The area has significance to early Maori and in the formation of Whanganui City. The walk around the lake takes approximately 30 minutes and provides an up-close-and-personal view of birdlife in their natural environment, plus native and exotic plants.
