Gordon and Janine Thompson have transformed their property on the outskirts of Owaka into a bug wonderland. The tiny creatures have arrived en masse since the planting of fruit trees, natives and winter-flowering tree lucerne, and the volume of native bird chatter here would suggest they are pretty happy with the Thompson’s vision too. Providing both education and entertainment, there are plenty of interesting facts and figures to learn while wandering around the mini ‘Bug City’ seeing miniature lives in action. Resident donkeys and geese add extra character and there’s even a small frisbee course available in the planted food forest too. 129 Hina Hina Road, Owaka.
