Pit Stop: Owharoa Falls
Owharoa Falls is a staircase waterfall of three parts, two of which are very riderfriendly, in that the detour off the main trail requires minimal effort for maximum reward. As you travel along Waitawheta Road, the first of the waterfalls is on the right-hand side, next to a small parking area. Leave your bikes for a short walk down to the water, where the falls run like lacework down the side of the rocky outcrop and into a popular summer swimming hole. The second waterfall isn't easily accessible to the public, but the third is a short distance along the road, and over the bridge.
