Maraetotara Falls

Summer afternoons in Hastings can hit the mid30s, and the cool waters of the swimming hole beneath Maraetotara Falls is a welcome respite from the heat. It's an easy 5- to 10-minute walk to the falls from the car park on Maraetotara Road. Explore further following the heritage walking track to the historic Havelock North hydroelectric power station, from which power lines once swung across the Tukituki River. An easy walk for kids at only 10 to 20 minutes one way. Parking is on Maraetotara Road.
