The Insider's Guide to New Zealand

Kirby Lane

-

Developed from a push to introduce more user-friendly public spaces, this pop-up lane has helped invigorate central Nelson. Open Monday to Friday, it's a place to stop by, hang out, relax, to interact with others and meet new people. On Wednesdays, it also hosts a Farmers' Market, where the region's food producers sell everything from honey to cheese, breads and homemade sausages. On Fridays in the summer, it becomes a food-cart paradise with several stalls, including the Argentinian barbecue Viva la Vaca and Japanese deep-fried chicken-master Mr Karaage, all vying for customers. kirbylane.nz
