The Insider's Guide to New Zealand

Cable Bay Adventure Park

-

This sprawling piece of land on the way from the city to Cable Bay has become Nelson's de-facto home for thrills. The property has almost 400ha of native forest, including massive mātai, tōtara and kahikatea, some of which are estimated to be more than 2000 years old. It also features the world's longest flying fox, which starts 150m above native forest and snakes 3km down to the ground. It is a one-of-a-kind experience — an amazing scenic ride high above the forest canopy with a big shot of adrenaline thrown in. The park also has mountain-biking, 4WD-quadbiking, archery and paintball.
