School’s out for Rosemary after 22 years

- TASHA LEOV

Children gathered on the grass at Clifton Terrace School in a fitting farewell to teacher Rosemary Cooke.

After 22 years of service at the school the teacher would be fondly remembered by her enthusiasm and commitment to science and the environment.

Cooke is retiring and said she would be doing ‘‘as little as possible’’ after finishing at the primary school.

A special assembly was held for the teacher where students presented her with gifts for her garden as well as a crown and a bouquet made of shrubbery.

The school had given the teacher two mandarin trees which she gifted back because her own garden was already too full.

Former pupil Jamie Foster who is now in year 9 at Nelson College came back to the school for the presentation to say a few words his former teacher.

‘‘Ms Cooke influenced me in many ways, she taught me how to be a leader, ‘‘ he said.

‘‘Thank you Ms Cooke throughout my time at Clifton Terrace you guided me through the good times, the bad times and uncertain times ... from all of the past students who couldn’t make it here and from me, we are eter- nally grateful.’’

Principal Rob Wemyss said it was a sad day for the school but an exciting one for Cooke.

‘‘Rosemary has been a well respected teacher and a leader in our school. She has done great things which have ensured we are a leader among other schools and Kathy Hemi is proud to have been in business for 11 years helping men and women learn what is ideal for them to achieve a healthy personal life, either individually or as partners.

Be Adult Boutique is in Montgomery Arcade, off Hardy Street or Montgomery Square near the Rebel Sport corner. Call in and talk with Kathy. She is very discreet and caring and enjoys advising people on personal issues eg. a amongst our community.

‘‘She has certainly left a legacy for our tamariki.’’

Cooke gave a walnut tree to the school which she said was a gift for ‘‘children today and future children’’.

‘‘The roots will spread out in that good healthy soil and that lack of libido due to illnesses and medications. Be wary of purchasing products off the Internet as often you don’t know what you’re getting and Kathy has the knowledge and a great range of organic and natural products to help you find what is perfect for you.

The perception of “Adult Shops’ has changed over the years and Kathy is proud to have moved with the times…….Be Adult Boutique will nurture just like a child is nurtured.’’

Cooke said she would miss the supportive community, hardworking and dedicated staff and the children who were keen and excited to learn.

She also opened a new garden pathway as part of her farewell. is a caring environment where you can unselfconsciously ask about what you want to know without any fear of judgement and you know you are getting genuinely helpful advice.
