Big brother, big sister mentor
It really helps when you enjoy doing the same things together. Biking, walking/tramping, swimming, boating, board games.
At the start Jackson had a fear of waves and water – now he is reasonably confident in the water and loves to dunk me!
He has had so many new experiences – he has been to the snow, up the top of a yacht’s mast, and can now ride a bike.
Jackson has a happy, friendly nature and I nearly always come away from our activities uplifted.
Mentoring keeps you young at heart - really good therapy.
Right at the start he said ‘‘I have a good feeling that we are going to get along really well’’.
That sort of positive comment keeps on coming and reaffirms our good relationship.
You have trouble relating to young people.
