Ray Anderson Memorial

-

The top of the VMX club held their annual Morley Motorcycle and Marine Ray Anderson Memorial and Club Champs on Sunday 7th of May.

With 40 riders signed up and more turning up on the day the numbers were good in most classes.

With a new track this year all the riders had a great day.

This year the Ray Anderson Memorial Trophy was raced for in the Vets class.

Pete Guthrie having known Ray since he was a teenager was determined to get his name on the trophy for the 3rd time but it was not a problem as he won all 3 races to take the Vets Club Champs and Trophy.

The Juniors class was a battle for the top spot with Kruger Griffith and Ryan Furness trading places all day. With Ryan going down in race two but making his way back up to 3rd, he gave Kruger an 8-point overall win, with Kent Furness riding well to get 3rd.

Malcolm Furness had a good day winning the Small-Bore and Mid-Bore classes with Brett Hahn 2nd and Brad Richards 3rd in MidBore. The club run a BBQ fundraiser for the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter which made $200 plus $51 in donations.

The club would like to thank Ian Robinson from Morley Motorcycle and Marine for his continue support for this event and Motueka Septic Tank Services for their support of the club and all the people that help make the event a success.

The club’s next event is round 1 of the Mainland Series on the 28th of May at Speargrass Rd, Lake Station, St Arnaud.
