Chamberlain Park

-

Some members of the Albert-Eden Local Board continue to follow their ideology over the future of Chamberlain Park without admitting it is based on inaccurate information.

Some of them know nothing about golf, and do not appear to be informed about what goes on there, including events to raise money for charities, tuition for children in the area, cultural harmony fostered by people of different ethnic origins using the course, overseas visitors, and the use of the course by local and visiting sports teams.

The costings of the proposed scenarios show a significant variation in range and, in particular, do not include the proposed aquatic centre. What is not shown is a costbenefit analysis of the impact on rates of the various scenarios compared with the current financial status of the course.

Other factors apparently not considered by the board include safety issues arising from putting a walkway through a golf course, the range of age groups using the course, and the iconic Letters to the editor should be sent to: Box 32, Auckland.
